Guide to Lightning Lane at Disneyland

As of July 24, Disneyland’s fast pass system will no longer be known as Disney Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes. The system got a rebranding and will now be known as Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass. No matter what it’s called, this can be one of the biggest stressors for families. To kick things off, make sure you’ve installed the Disneyland app on your phone. The app will serve as your gateway to all the Lightning Lane offerings. Once you have the app on your device, have logged in using the account your reservations is linked to, linked your reservation, and made sure all guests are linked to your account, you’re all set to dive into the world of Disney Lightning Lane.

Now, let’s break down these key terms:

  1. Lightning Lane Multi Pass (previously known as Genie+): Secure a time to ride an attraction available on Multi Pass. These passes cost $30 per day per person and can be bought at time of purchasing your tickets or once you enter the park.
  2. Lightning Lane Single Pass (previously known as Individual Lightning Lane): Secure a time to ride one of the most highly demanded attractions. These passes cost between $15-$25+ per day per person and can be bought once you enter the park.
  3. Lighting Lane Premier Pass: A pass that provides that access to ride each Lightning Lane attraction one time. No reservations are required to enter a Lightning Lane.

How to Use Lightning Lane Multi Pass

Lightning Lane Multi Pass is a paid system that allows you to schedule arrival for attractions included in the system.

Lightning Lane Multi Pass costs $30+ per day per person, plus applicable taxes and can be purchased when you book a Vacation Package or tickets. All guests over the age of 3 who want to take advantage of Lightning Lanes will need to purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass.

If you did not buy Lightning Lane Multi Pass in advance for your trip to Disneyland and decide you’d like to add it on, no worries! You can purchase through the app once you enter the park.

To book your first Lightning Lane Multi Pass selection, follow these instructions:

  • Once you’ve entered the park, open up your Disneyland app
  • On the homepage you will see the “My Plans” section. Click “My Day” (righthand side of screen)
  • Navigate to the “Tip Board” (left tab on screen)
  • You’ll see a list of attractions. Click the “LL” to book the next available return time.
  • Confirm your party
  • Book!

When your reserved arrival time arrives, you and all members of your party will need to scan in at the Lightning Lane entrance of the attraction using your ticket or MagicBand/MagicBand+.

You will be able to make your second reservation after one of the following occurs:

  • You’ve redeemed your first selection
  • 2 hours after park opening

After your second reservation is made, you can make your next selection once you’ve redeemed the selection your holding or 2 hours after you made the last selection.

What is Lightning Lane Single Pass?

Lightning Lane Single Pass are sold separately from Lightning Lane Multi Pass are available for the most popular attraction(s) in each park. You do not need to purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass to be able to purchase Lightning Lane Single Pass.

How to Purchase Lightning Lane Single Pass

All guests with valid admission are able to purchase Lightning Lane Single Pass once they have entered the park. Guests may purchase a total of 2 Lightning Lane Single Pass reservations per day, but you are not able to purchase the same attraction twice in the same day. Prices vary based on attraction, season and day of the week and can range from $9 – $25+ per person per attraction.

To purchase and book a Lightning Lane Single Pass, follow these instructions:

  • Once you’ve entered the park, open up your Disneyland app.
  • Click the magnify glass icon on the bottom of the screen.
  • Search the attraction you would like to purchase (i.e. type Rise for Rise of the Resistance)
  • Click the “LL” icon, which will bring you to the tip board
  • Under the attraction you would like to purchase an Lightning Lane Single Pass for, click “LL”
  • Confirm party
  • Book!

What is Lightning Lane Premier Pass?

Lightning Lane Premier Pass debuted as a new option for guests at the end of October 2024. Premier Pass allows guests to ride each attraction with a Lightning Lane one time throughout their day at both parks if they have Park Hopper Tickets. Guests do not need to reserve a return time.

Premier Pass can be purchased at 7 AM PST 7 days in advance of your park day. When purchasing, guests will select the date they would like to visit. Guests visiting with a Walt Disney Travel Company package are welcome to purchase Lightning Lane Premier Pass when they receive their park tickets 3 days in advance of their arrival, subject to availability.

How Much is Lightning Lane Premier Pass?

Lightning Lane Premier Pass is $400 per person, per day for park visits through December 31, 2024. Beginning in 2025, pricing will vary by date between $300 and $400.

Who Can Purchase Lightning Lane Premier Pass?

All guests with a valid park ticket can purchase Lightning Lane Premier Pass.
