If you’re planning a trip to Walt Disney World or Disneyland with young children, having a stroller is essential. With the potential to walk more than 10 miles in a day, which can be exhausting for adults, it’s even more taxing on kids. In the following guide, we’ll cover everything you need to know about strollers at these magical theme parks for a successful and comfortable visit.

Who Should Use a Stroller?
If you’re traveling with children aged 6-8 or younger, it’s advisable to have a stroller with you in the parks. While your child may not typically use one at home, the long days of walking can be overwhelming for them. Of course, every child is unique, and some parents may choose to have a stroller for their 8-year-olds, while others might feel it’s unnecessary. The decision ultimately depends on your child’s comfort and your preferences, but I highly recommend it for children aged 6-8 and younger.
Disney Stroller Policy
First and foremost, you are allowed to bring your own stroller to Walt Disney World and Disneyland. However, there are specific guidelines you must adhere to:

- Strollers larger than 31 inches (79 cm) in width and 52 inches (132 cm) in length are not permitted. Stroller wagons are also not allowed.
- Strollers are prohibited on escalators. However, you can use elevators and ramps at designated locations.
- Children must be taken out of their strollers when riding on parking lot trams.
- Do not leave personal items unattended in your stroller.
- In some cases, Cast Members may move strollers for operational reasons.
- Strollers are not allowed in attraction queues or vehicles, except for those designated as wheelchairs for guests with special needs. To obtain this designation, you can visit Guest Relations, and they will provide you with a red tag to hang on your stroller. The stroller must conform to the size limits for wheelchairs, not exceeding 36 inches (92 cm) in width and 52 inches (132 cm) in length.
Disney Stroller Rental
While you can bring your own stroller, renting one from Disney may be a more convenient option. Strollers are available for rent at each of the parks, Disney Springs (Walt Disney World), and Downtown Disney (Disneyland). The rates are as follows:
- Single Stroller (recommended for children 50 lbs or less): $15 per day or $13 for a multi-day rental (length of stay).
- Double strollers (recommended for children 100 lbs or less): $31 per day or $27 for a multi-day rental.
- A $100 credit card deposit is required when renting strollers at Disney Springs or Downtown Disney.
Multi-day or length-of-stay rentals can help reduce costs. You can pre-pay for the number of days you’ll need a stroller at the beginning of your trip and receive a receipt to present each day for your stroller. The downside is that your stroller will look like many others, potentially leading to confusion.
Before choosing this option, I recommend looking at the provided pictures of the strollers to ensure your child will be comfortable.
Disney Stroller Rental Companies
Instead of renting from Disney, consider renting a stroller from a third-party vendor for the duration of your stay, such as Kingdom Strollers. These vendors offer sturdier and more comfortable strollers and provide complimentary drop-off and pick-up services at your resort, both on and off Walt Disney World property. They offer various models, including single and double strollers, as well as the Liberty Special Needs Stroller.
